Halfway between Paris and Strasbourg, between the Rhone Valley and the Belgian border, Saint-Dizier is the gateway to Eastern France. It is five miles from Western Europe's biggest man-made lake, Der-Chantecoq. With 27,000 inhabitants it is the largest town in Haute-Marne and the fifth largest in Champagne-Ardenne. It has a fascinating and wealthy past based on the iron industry and has produced numerous cast iron masterpieces.
Today Saint- Dizier is in the midst of a sea-change, becoming a high growth town once again while steadily improving the quality of life for the people who live there.

The Communes Community is undergoing an exciting revival at the heart of a privileged environnement equidistant between the markets of Benelux, Germany and Paris. It is two hours from Paris on the TGV Eastern line (Vitry-le-François station, an hour from Paris-Vatry international airport, the third largest freight platform in the provinces and close the A4, A26 and A31 motorways. It lies at the centreof a university triangle between Reims, Nancy and Troyes, containing some 130,000 students.
The driving force of a region on the move, Saint-Dizier has transformed itself over the last fifteen years to create the conditions required for its economic restructuring. The town centre has been renovated and extended, a new hospital centre has been nuilt, the Chêne Saint-Amand shopping centre has doubled in size, and new public facilities have been built to make the region more attractive.
